Day One

It's 6:30 pm, we just finished our supper meal, and the last remaining bit of light from the sun is gone - it is now very dark.  In the distance, we can hear the chorus of  insects, birds, and various other creatures in the near distance.  The sound is enveloping.

The light may be gone, but the base is very busy with activity.  Currently there a number of small groups working on their VBS planning and prep, some are taking in some time to relax, others are sending emails to family back home, and the kids have gone to visit the horse in the pouring rain.  We have another meeting scheduled for 7:30 pm tonight which will cover more orientation items on the base, plus hearing some testimonies and training.

It was a very busy day.  Following breakfast, the team assembled near the "office building" to prepare for the live Skype call with the 11:00 am church service at SGAC.  It was great to see many of you back home for a short bit.  Once the call was completed, we assembled at the main building where we held our own church service.  What an outstanding service - spent time in worship, followed by a moving message from base director Terry Keith.  He challenged us to obey God's call in all areas of life.

The afternoon was spent preparing and planning for the various ministry areas.  Everyone was busily working away to prepare for the upcoming days of ministry.  Between sessions, individuals had time to explore, rest, reflect and dialog, etc.

Just before supper, Pastor Pedro and Bob Kerr led the group in learning a couple new Spanish worship songs to teach the Guarari children - I'm not quite sure we Canadians will be "teaching' our Costa Rican friends anything in Spanish!

It's time for the meeting in a few moments, so I'll wrap this up.  We'll post more later.

a few pics for your enjoyment...

  1. It was really great seeing you all gathered this morning even to connect briefly with SGAC. You all look happy and ready to go. The blogs are descriptive, which helps to feel more connected. Thank you Lance! How wonderful it is to see what God has done, what He is doing, and what He is going to do in all of your lives. Beautiful pictures! It is a given to see Emily with the animals – so precious.

Trevor, the teaching you heard today about being obedient to God’s call in all areas of your life is exactly what God put on my heart today. If this is any consolation missions may once again be your calling...Amen to that.

    Peace and Blessings.

  2. Great to get this update. Glad for the service you had and the training that Terry and the folks there as well as our own folks are able to share with you. Sounds like you had a great day. The weather here has been cool. Got some rain in mid afternoon Sunday and the high for today is only 17 with some rain forecast.

Blessings on you for day 2.

  3. Thanks for the information and pictures. You are all in my thoughts and prayers-- knowing you are seeking God for direction and sitting still long enough to listen to HIS voice. He will honor that!!!!
